Filtro Café & Microbakery
A café, not an online shop.

The project
Context
Filtro is a specialty café and microbakery in the historic centre of Salerno: Nordic-inspired, rooted in Southern Italy, built around slow mornings, naturally leavened bread and the people behind the counter. Before the site, the whole brand lived on Instagram.
Platform: Shopify (EN/IT) · Site: filtrocafe.it
The brief
Give a place with a very precise physical identity an online home that feels like walking in.
Let people buy coffee, brewing tools and merch without the site turning into an e-commerce store.
Speak to two audiences at once: locals and the international visitors who find Filtro on foot.
Decisions
Visit first, shop second
The hierarchy follows how people actually meet Filtro: the place, the pillars, the room, then the products. The shop is one section among others, with three collections (Coffee, Tools, Merch) and a gift card. Commerce sits inside the story instead of replacing it.
Copy that sounds like the counter
The tone is written the way the café feels: short sentences, a slower rhythm, no e-commerce vocabulary. “Where slow mornings find a home” does the job a hero headline usually needs three lines for.
Photography as structure
Lowe Film Studio’s photos carry the layout. Full-bleed images, generous spacing and a restrained palette taken from the room itself make the site read as a continuation of the space.
Events that keep the site alive
A recurring events section pulls in what Filtro actually does week to week and links straight to the Instagram posts, so the site stays current without a CMS routine nobody has time for.
Bilingual by default
English and Italian across the whole site, with English as the primary voice for the international audience that discovers Filtro in Salerno.
